I'll get rid of my hit list :)

Actually, this part speaks to me: "I hope people who put me on their own enemy lists will grant me the same benefit of the doubt. Recognize my distance and reserve for the masked shyness it is, overlook my irritating quirks as insecurities and love me all the more because of them."

I recall the first time I read about Spencer Kimball's call to the apostleship, how he went around mending every possible fence, clearing up every misunderstanding, resolving preexisting conflicts whether or not he was at fault. All of this so he could serve every person to the fullest possible extent. He did something similar when he was called as a stake president, concerned that there might be those that harbored ill feelings toward him. Since the first reading, there are few days that go by in my life when this amazing example doesn't go through my mind. My conscience obviously needs stirring. Or beating.

Certainly I have been or will yet be called to serve those I "cautiously avoid" or those who do the same to me. I don't want to have to mend any more fences than I've already made holes in. And some of those holes are bigger than I care to admit.

Great post, hermana.Cari Banninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01309665562592955580noreply@blogger.com
