I Am Not My Body.

I love this quote: "I am not my body." It reminds me that my true self is so much more than what you see on the outside. I refuse to be defined by the appearance of wrinkles and cellulite. I'm not even blue-green eyes or curly hair or a skinny waist -- because my good parts don't define me either. I am spirit. In a mortal shell. I am a mother...giving life and nurturing spirits in younger bodies, spirits sent (amazingly) to our home. "Beauty and motherhood are one." That is what I choose to remember, deep inside, today and (hopefully) every day.

Click here to hear the quotes above in their original context-- such a beautiful outlook on life.

It's strange how we get hung up on the physical, when we love the people we love for who they are. When I think of you I think of your sweetness and generousity...that amazingly joyful laugh of yours. The way you see the beauty in the world and bring it to life on your canvas. I think of how loving you are and the way you inspire me to be more loving too. I can hardly remember your face for thinking of what I really see in you.

I watched her video last night. Simply adore that woman, what a role model (especially when I feel like having a pity party).

Good to hear from you again!

I am assuming you saw the video today too. I cried. What great thoughts from her and from you.

I too feel like I am much more than what you see (thank goodness).

Age has its advantages. Even though I'm newly post baby and squishy, I mind so much less now because I'd so much rather worry about my kids or things that, you know . . . matter.

Good quote.

I love that video. There are so many ways to think about that quote. I love your thoughts that you are nurturing spirits in younger bodies. It makes me remember that their spirits are not the age of their body, and that they/we are just using these bodies to help our spirits learn what they need to. So neat. Thank you.

C.S. Lewis said (to paraphrase): "We are not a body with a SOUL...We are a SOUL with a BODY. The body is infinitely important..but the things that We need to remember that You have mentioned are Just as important; NO-even more in many ways. Thanks, Jana. :)
